A New Day Is Dawning
Surviving Apocalypse has embraced the need to self-isolate and live in the woods! We are building a log home to accomplish that goal.
People say that a journey begins with but a single step… but that first step for me was almost forty years ago!
During this past month we have seen some interesting developments. From the North 40, and throughout the World, the rise of COVID19, has renewed interest in prepping. ‘Self-isolating’ is becoming ubiquitous.
This has always been the focus for ‘Surviving Apocalypse.’ This site was founded as a resource for people to deal with life’s adversity.
Being able to have a retreat, with supplies and the capability to become self-sufficient is the dream of many people. Here it is a reality!
We’ve Come a Long Way, Comrade!
When I first began to study the subject of prepping, the big boogeymen were Nuclear War, Weather Disasters, and Economic Collapse. Pandemics were thought to be rare and modern medicine had managed to conquer some pretty devastating diseases, such as polio and smallpox. But today, we are getting hammered by a new threat – Novel Coronavirus COVID-19.
The economic and social impact of this scenario are staggering. At this time, there are somewhere north of 200,000 worldwide, and over 7,000 cases in the US alone. (Reference WHO website below.)
What methods can we use to help us in surviving apocalypses such as this in the future?
Log Homes Are The Ticket!
We have begun construction on the log home, according to plans and training received in 2011 at the LHBA course I attended in Las Vegas.
It is my goal to document the ongoing progress of growing my own food, building the log home and other tips and tricks for country living.
I will be producing videos, make notes about lessons learned, and encapsulate all of this knowledge into a book, or two. It’s going to be a long haul, but I’ve got the time.

That last bit is the most important today, IMHO. Being able to live unfettered from debt is liberating. Many try, but few can succeed in severing that banking umbilical cord. It’s very difficult, since we are all trained to become consumers. There is merit in learning technology, and using it to make an income.
